As a scout gets older, he may find that there is little left for summer camp to offer him. But this couldn't be farther from the truth at Camp Buck Toms. We offer some of the best high adventure programs available.

C.O.P.E.

This is scouting’s premier summer camp high adventure program. C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) pushes scouts to their physical limits while teaching them the value of teamwork, especially in a wilderness environment. Scouts participate in all facets of teambuilding as they help each other through difficult physical obstacles and learn life lessons about helping themselves and others to succeed together. Included in this program are:

• Over a dozen physical obstacles in our wilderness C.O.P.E. course.
• Dozens of teambuilding exercises and games designed to help the group work together.
• Plenty of time on our massive Climbing and Rappelling tower.
• A fantastic high ropes course designed to challenge everything the participants have learned in a culmination of their C.O.P.E. skills, complete with a two-hundred yard zipline!

Mountain Man

Our Mountain Man trek is the ultimate in outdoor experiences. Participants will spend the week hiking, climbing, learning outdoor skills, and much more in our trek designed for the adventurous type. This program includes:

• An overnight backpacking trip through the scenic Smoky Mountains.
• A rock climbing trip up a waterfall!
• Spelunking in the caves of the Cumberland Plateau
• Whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River, the same river used during the 1996 Olympic Games!
• And much more…

Fifty Mile Afloat

This trip is brand new to our program. Based out of our wilderness camp, Camp Pellissippi, participants will spend the days on the rivers and lakes of East Tennessee, and the evenings on islands and also doing service projects to earn the National BSA Fifty Mile Afloat award!
