CBT Facilities

Sunrise at Camp Buck Toms

Camp Buck Toms is located in East Tennessee near the Cumberland Plateau. Resting against scenic Watts Bar Lake, it is truly one of the finest Boy Scout camps in the southeast.

The facilities at Camp Buck Toms are second to none. Whether it’s swimming in our private cove branching off Watts Bar, hiking the trails and viewing the Indian mounds of the tribes that once inhabited the lands, talking to someone halfway around the world at our Ham Radio Shelter, or having dinner in our wonderful Dining Hall, we guarantee that our amenities go hand in hand with our world class program.

We have a fantastic shooting sports range, a wilderness C.O.P.E. course with over a dozen complex elements, a fishing pier complete with fish attractors, and a climbing tower over sixty feet tall!

Camp Buck Toms also provides the best in health and safety. Our Health Lodge is staffed by a certified EMT and every week the University of Tennessee loans a university doctor to help tend to any injuries and illnesses that may be encountered during the camping experience. In case of a severe emergency, we also have a direct satellite link up to the University of Tennessee Hospital. Thankfully, that service has never had to be used.

We also have the beautiful Jane Manly Museum dedicated to the preservation of the history of the Great Smoky Mountain Council. Here, we have on display thousands of patches, shirts, books, and much more documenting the Great Smoky Mountain Council’s path through history since it’s inception!

Looking for a souvenir? Or perhaps just a snack to tide you over between meals? Well our fully stocked trading post is the place to go. We have everything from can drinks and bags of chips to golf shirts and pen sets. We also make sure to supply all those little things that you may have forgotten to pack for camping, including everything from matches or a flashlight to a compass. And don’t worry about having to find merit badge books or materials, we have everything your scouts will need to complete all of their merit badges on sale.

In the training lodge we have shower and bathroom facilities for both men and women and a Central Shower complex for the youth with plenty of hot water. Some campsites even feature their own shower facilities!

We also have a specially designed campsite for any troops with scouts or scouters with physical disabilities. The campsite has a paved trail leading from the Administration Building, past the Dining Hall, Health Lodge, and Training Lodge, all the way down to the Trading Post.

So what can Camp Buck Toms provide for you? Well, if you want the full summer camp experience, there really is no substitute.
