Other Program Areas:
Aquatics  ||   Ecology/Conservation  ||   Handicraft  ||   Scoutcraft  ||   Shooting Sports  ||   Dan Beard  ||   High Adventure

Our Dan Beard program is a fantastic opportunity for new scouts to get a jump on their Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class requirements while having fun at the same time in one of the best first-year camper programs around.

Year after year, in and out of council troops return to our camp for the superb quality of this program. Campers will learn everything from fire and knife safety, basic knots, outdoor skills, compass and map reading skills, and much more. Also, every day the campers will visit one of the program areas to learn specialized skills from that program area’s staff. Among these are:

Aquatics:
Campers will learn both Basic and Advanced swimming skills. Some extra work can net a camper the Swimming merit badge!
Ecology:
Scouts will learn to identify plants and animals in the wilderness.
Handicraft:
Boys will learn basic woodworking and knife skills. Scouts can also earn the Basketry merit badge.
Scoutcraft:
Campers will be taught the basic lashing skills used to build wilderness structures like tripods, towers, and bridges using only rope and wooden spars.
Shooting Sports
Scouts will learn gun and archery safety and are given the opportunity to shoot both rifles and bows and arrows.
C.O.P.E.:
The Boys will learn basic climbing skills as they are given the opportunity to climb up and rappel down our gigantic climbing tower.

In all, Dan Beard campers will be given the full scouting experience in only six days! It is an experience that we guarantee none of the new scouts will ever forget. Everything that Scouting is about is contained in this program, and the campers will learn and have fun doing some of Scouting’s most enjoyed activities.
